Canadian Trucking Alliance and American Trucking Association Call for Priority Access to Vaccine for Drivers

The ATA has joined the CTA in delivering letters to policy makers in the White House, the CDC, and the National Governors Associations reminding them that the trucking workforce is a critical link in the North American supply chain and that truckers play an essential role in the vaccine distribution process.

The trucking industry has played a crucial role in the response effort by providing healthcare workers, grocery stores, and pharmacies with access to necessary goods.

As trucking has been designated an ‘essential service’, it is paramount that our drivers are provided with the highest level of care and preventative measures.

In a recent statement, the Canadian Trucking Alliance stated: “CTA looks forward to working with all levels of government to ensure that voluntary COVID-19 testing away from border points continue to be made available for drivers and hard-working essential workers receive the vaccine when the medical community and provincial officials determine it’s appropriate.”

The impact that the virus has had on the mental health of drivers, due to fear of contracting the virus and potentially spreading it to family members, friends, and co-workers is immense.  Providing drivers with a vaccine would alleviate these stressors and allow our driver to do what they do best without the worry.
